Hi, I’m Tahni…

I spend most of my days as a home-educating, life-coaching, strengths-boosting, communication-partnering mom—and a trusted companion to my 20-year-old son, Josiah, and wife to Joe. We’re all pretty sure our 15-year-old maltipoo Lucy thinks she runs the whole show, though!

We published the book Josiah’s Fire: Autism Stole His Words, God Gave Him a Voice (2015), which tells the story of our family’s journey to a communication breakthrough through spelling—and the unearthing of Josiah’s rich inner world.

Josiah’s first independent sentence—“God is a good gift giver”—marked a turning point for us. It shifted everything from simply coping with an autism diagnosis to cultivating hope for a meaningful future grounded in the whole person—physical, emotional, and spiritual.

Now, after 13 years of forging open communication, Josiah is a poet, songwriter, and entrepreneurial partner with another speller. He shares his reflections through his Facebook page, Josiah’s Fire.

As a retreat and conference speaker and podcast guest, I draw on my background in ministry to mentor like-hearted families toward resilience, connection, and whole-person flourishing.

Our “peace mutt”—as Josiah says!

”God is a good gift giver.” Find out why this phrase became a true again and again—taking us from coping with autism to hoping in God!
